Dogs have more opportunities to interact with both humans and other dogs, promoting social skills and reducing anxiety.
On-site living allows for a consistent daily routine, which can help dogs feel more secure and reduce stress.
Any behavioural or health issues can be addressed promptly, ensuring dogs receive the care they need right away.
With staff available throughout the day, dogs can enjoy more outdoor playtime and exercise, which is essential for their physical and mental health.
Being in a familiar environment with people they trust can reduce separation anxiety and help dogs feel more at home.
On-site living allows for various enrichment activities tailored to the dogs' needs, keeping them mentally stimulated and engaged.

Introduction day at Milele is a crucial event for both the staff and the dogs, It typically involves several key components to ensure a smooth transition for the dogs.
Dogs are introduced to the retreat environment. This will involve interactions with staff and other dogs to assess their behaviour and comfort level. It's vital for staff to observe how each dog reacts to new simulations, including sounds, smells, and other animals.
Each dog typically undergoes a health assessment. This includes checking for signs of illness, ensuring vaccinations are up to date, and confirming that each dog is free from parasites. Any special needs or medical conditions are documented for ongoing care.
Staff are trained on the specific feeding schedules and dietary requirements for each dog. This might also include discussions on grooming, exercise routines, and any behavioural training that has been established by the owner.
Dogs are shown their sleeping quarters and outdoor areas. This helps them acclimate to the new environment, reducing anxiety.
At the end of the Introduction Day, we will provide you with feedback on whether we believe our retreat is well suited to your dog. If we are confident that our retreat is the right fit for your dog, then you will be able to book future pup cations with us. If we feel that our retreat's environment is not the right fit for your dog then we may either suggest an additional introduction day/night to assess further, or unfortunately, we may conclude that our retreat would not be the right pup cation option for your dog.
If you have booked an Introduction Day with us and need to cancel or reschedule your booking, this can be requested via email. To qualify for a full refund and/or rescheduling your Introduction Day, changes must be requested at least 48 hours in advance. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund or an option to reschedule within 48 hours before your Introduction Day.
Our Introduction Days are approximately 5 hours long from drop off time. We ask that you provide any food and bedding needed for your dog throughout their time with us that day.
Induction day is essential for creating a safe and welcoming environment for dogs while equipping staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide high-quality care to your fur baby.
It's essential to pack a few key items to ensure their comfort and well-being during their stay with us here at Milele.
Starting with your dog's food and any specific feeding instructions, as maintaining their regular diet is crucial. We kindly ask that you do not bring your own bowls unless they're essential for your dog's needs. We provide plenty of clean high-quality bowls for all of our guests
Bring a familiar blanket or toy to provide comfort and a sense of security in the new environment.
Don't forget to include any necessary medications along with clear instructions for administration.
We will have plenty of toys for your dog to enjoy during their stay with us.
We can also provide treats and chews, if their diet allows.
Every dog staying at Milele will have to wear one of our collars which displays our name and telephone number. This is a licencing requirement. However, please bring your dog's own collar and lead so they are ready for collection at the end of their holiday.
Although we are more than happy to provide bedding as well as a wide selection of beds, we do encourage you to bring your dog's own bed and bedding from home. This is familiar to them and will help them settle quicker during their stay with us. If your dog usually sleeps in a crate at night-time, then please bring this with you and we will replicate their sleeping set up for maximum comfort.
Please ensure that any bedding and blankets are washed before your dog's stay with us.
Our check in and check out slots are between 9:30am & 11am, or 4pm & 5.30pm.
All dogs will need to be fully vaccinated, including protection against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, leptospirosis and kennel cough*. We will require a photo/copy of the vaccination card prior to your dog's stay. This will be uploaded to your dog's record on our system so there is no need to bring the card every time. All dogs will also need to have had flea and worming treatment prior to their stay. If your dog isn't vaccinated, you must provide valid titre test results confirming sufficient immunity before arrival. Please note that titre tests are only accepted when accompanied by written confirmation from your veterinarian stating that there is a documented medical reason or previous adverse reaction that prevents your dog from being vaccinated.
